This product uses a more supportive and short-term method to give users more encouragement in controlling of eating through setting goals for the long-term impact.
Ovreview
Eating disorders are among the most dangerous and difficult to treat of the addiction issues people face. It is easy to see why; food is inescapable. It’s pretty obvious that a $200-a-day heroin habit is problematic, but everybody needs to eat food every day. While nobody needs cocaine, even the most strenuous binge eater will have need of food every few hours, making recovery a daily struggle.
My Role
I designed a new daily routine record application. The pain point of eating disorder patients is recording daily food intake in the long-term treatment. Through setting long-term goal, giving encouragement, tracking progress and even giving help from local therapists, these new features give patients a chance to build a better relationship with food and a sense of controllability for themselves.
Research
Secondary Research
Developing a positive relationship with food can be a complex process, especially for those living with or recovering from disordered eating. But technology can be helpful in understanding how to monitor your habits, improve your mental health, and take positive steps toward a stronger mind and body.
Eating disorder is a cycle
Eating disorders affect several million people at any given time, most often women between the ages of 12 and 35. There are three main types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.
How to improve the controllability of eating disorder patients, building a happy & healthy relationship with food?
