Secondary Research
Humans have devised countless ways to differentiate themselves from each other, language, geography, wealth, or just the color of their skin. It's a long-standing fact that in our society, there is a group of people who are locked out of mainstream life because of their sensory deficits. Cruelty, madness, despair... this is the story of tens of millions of deaf people. They are in the same world as we are, and yet like a completely different world. To better understand the current situation of deaf people’s needs, I researched several existing products for this group.
After researching, I found existing products focus on voice detection and translation, text typing, and sign language. However, how can a deaf person live without thr product? In addition to being a translation tool, language rehabilitation should be added to the product to further improve the communication status of the hearing impaired with the outside world.
User Research
Based on my secondary research and I conducted more in-depth research in the group of deaf and hearing loss people to discover their needs. I found that hearing loss is a long-term and subtle healing process, and the cost of treatment is very high.
